# Same address. New possibilities.

Warm brick. Quiet metal. A different first impression. See a new direction before choosing a finish.

**Audience:** For residential designers, remodelers, and homeowners

[Explore your exterior](/try/ai-exterior-design/start)

## How it works

Exterior design, from your own image.

1. **Choose a clear exterior view** — Upload a house photo, an elevation image, or a model screenshot with the facade visible.
2. **Name the finish you want to explore** — Tell Bob which surfaces to change and whether this is a finish study or a broader redesign.
3. **Compare and refine** — Explore another material, inspect the details, and save your preferred visual direction.

## Example prompt

```
Redesign only the facade finishes: warm buff brick on the ground floor and natural vertical timber cladding on the upper floor. Keep every wall plane, window, door, roof edge, lawn, path, background, light and viewpoint unchanged. Do not alter building massing or add windows.
```

## From reference to concept.

A generated source, its edited result, and a closer look at the same result. Use the comparison above to inspect what changed.

- **Original facade** — The generated source image used as the edit reference.
- **Brick and timber concept** — The result of the task-specific edit, using that source image.
- **The facade junction** — A tightly framed detail from this result, shown at three times the scale of the full view.

## Benefits

- **Compare material directions** — Explore brick, timber, metal, paint, and other finish ideas from a source image.
- **Keep the brief focused** — Specify the surface to change and the openings, roofline, and surroundings you want to retain.
- **Make choices easier to discuss** — Bring a visual concept to conversations with your designer, builder, or client.

## Tips

- Use a straight-on or clear three-quarter view of the facade.
- Distinguish material-only edits from changes to the building shape.
- Specify the surrounding features to retain, including landscaping and neighboring structures.

## Exterior design questions

### Can I visualize changes to my house exterior?

Yes. Upload an exterior photo and describe the materials, colors, or design direction you want to explore. You can also start with a drawing or model view.

### Can I compare different facade materials?

Yes. Ask Bob for alternatives such as brick, metal, timber, or paint. The examples on this page are material concepts, not technical material specifications.

### Can I keep the roof and windows unchanged?

Make that part of the brief and use focused edits where possible. AI may still alter details, so review the result against the original image.

### Does this replace a renovation plan?

No. These images help communicate ideas. They are not measured drawings, cost estimates, structural assessments, or planning documents.

### Can I change the surroundings as well?

You can describe landscaping or context changes, but specify them separately from the facade. Otherwise, tell Bob which surroundings should remain unchanged.

AI concepts do not establish structural feasibility, planning approval, material performance, or exact color matching. Review changes with an appropriate professional before proceeding.
